Quoting a comment from a torrent site I visited:

"And to all the downloaders, seed after you finish please, at least for 2 days. I am getting 20-25kB/s and my usual dl speed is around 550kB/s..."

The usual is 550kb/s? THE FARK? I feel like I'm missing out on things for the past decade.

The usual for Malaysia is 20kb/s, dammit! Streamyx, what is wrong with you!

Yea, maybe a little scan of the newspaper article will help people get a clearer view. I don't know how to read chinese, so I wrote the previous journal post based on how I understand my mom's explanation.

I don't know what exactly is Mr. Lim's full name, and I'm not sure of what he can do. But what I do know is, he did some sort of false advertising, and made a minor verbal threat against my mom. That's not what someone from a political party should do.

My mom came across this full page (I misheard "full") advertisement (turns out it's just a news article). It wrote about how some Mr. Lim from MCA, a chinese political party, who claims to "help poor people apply for bank loans to help their business grow". My mom gave Mr. Lim a call to ask for advice.

He just pointed my mom to "any local bank" which can help her with the bank loans. The banks she visited gave her some typical loan schemes, which she cannot afford because of the interest rates. She called back Mr. Lim and enquired about how he advertised his help in the newspaper.

Mr. Lim said "I'm just a helper, I have helped 7 people successfully apply for bank loans. If you want to apply for the loan I'm talking about, you need to have a business that has been running for at least one year, and is valued at least RM2million."

Obviously my mom argued with Mr. Lim, because the newspaper clearly wrote Mr. Lim helps "poor" people, so it is NOT possible for poor people to have a business which is worth RM2million. Mr. Lim responded by accusing my mom of scolding him, and he threatened that he will record the phone conversation and cause her trouble.

My mom straightened things out but confirming that Mr. Lim does not in fact help poor people. He just advertised in the newspaper with such a claim so that people "who do not know what he can do" will think he is indeed helping poor people. People who ACTUALLY come to Mr. Lim for help, can never get any help unless they're filthy rich in the first place.

Way to go, Malaysian politicians. It's already sad that BN is full of donkey chasms, but to have equally incompetent people in a political party representing a minority race, we're most probably doomed...

I'm not going to say that Mr. Lim's unethical behaviour represents the party's image. It's just that MOST of my mom's attempt to get help from MCA has ended up in failure, similar to this case. This is not the first time, and is probably not uncommon for other people either.

Just a few days ago, my mom was following behind a large truck. She crossed the traffic junction along with the truck, but she was the last car and the traffic was yellow when she crossed.

A bunch of policemen stopped her right after the junction and told her she rushed the red lights. My mom argued that she was behind the truck and could not see the lights, and besides, it was only yellow.

The policemen just gave her an ultimatum: "You mahu $30 atau $300?" (You want to pay $30 (to bribe the policemen) or $300? (to pay for the official summons)

Obviously my mom had no choice but to pay the lesser amount.

1Malaysia? Fuck that, the policemen aren't even doing their jobs properly.

I find it hard to speak when somebody asks for my real name.

I'm pretty sure they won't remember my name, and also, my name sounds like a girl's in Chinese.

Giving them a fake english name isn't quite an option either, because I tend to forget what name I give myself.

Dayum. :(
