My mom came across this
full page (I misheard "full")
advertisement (turns out it's just a news article). It wrote about how some Mr. Lim from MCA, a chinese political party, who claims to "help poor people apply for bank loans to help their business grow". My mom gave Mr. Lim a call to ask for advice.
He just pointed my mom to "any local bank" which can help her with the bank loans. The banks she visited gave her some typical loan schemes, which she cannot afford because of the interest rates. She called back Mr. Lim and enquired about how he advertised his help in the newspaper.
Mr. Lim said "I'm just a helper, I have helped 7 people successfully apply for bank loans. If you want to apply for the loan I'm talking about, you need to have a business that has been running for at least one year, and is valued at least RM2million."
Obviously my mom argued with Mr. Lim, because the newspaper clearly wrote Mr. Lim helps "poor" people, so it is NOT possible for poor people to have a business which is worth RM2million. Mr. Lim responded by accusing my mom of scolding him, and he threatened that he will record the phone conversation and cause her trouble.
My mom straightened things out but confirming that Mr. Lim does not in fact help poor people. He just advertised in the newspaper with such a claim so that people "who do not know what he can do" will think he is indeed helping poor people. People who ACTUALLY come to Mr. Lim for help, can never get any help unless they're filthy rich in the first place.
Way to go, Malaysian politicians. It's already sad that BN is full of donkey chasms, but to have equally incompetent people in a political party representing a minority race, we're most probably doomed...
I'm not going to say that Mr. Lim's unethical behaviour represents the party's image. It's just that MOST of my mom's attempt to get help from MCA has ended up in failure, similar to this case. This is not the first time, and is probably not uncommon for other people either.
